Trip to Paris!

Well with the good comes the bad, and this trip proved just that!  Will and I are choosing just to remember the good, though.  We saw almost everything we wanted and tasted all the musts.  It was a bit overcrowded because of the holiday so it wasn't quite as romantic as I was expecting, but it was definitely an adventure.  I managed to forget our itinerary in the hotel room the first day, I got spit on as soon as we got into the city, and we were unable to pick up our Paris Pass.  Minor set backs, right?  Once we got over our initial shock we ran with spontaneity, though!     Everything was gorgeous...including the language, which I happen to know very little of.  The trip wasn't what we planned at all, but it was a good time.  Here are some pictures of our adventure!

Christmas 2009

Please forgive me for not posting in a while.  I am going to try to be better this year about keeping everyone up to date with what is going on with us.  Christmas wasn't quite the same this year, but it never is when you are first starting out I guess.  The important thing was that we were together!  Our collection of decorations is slowly growing.  We received our first nativity set from Mama K that we absolutely love. Willow Tree is AWESOME.  We also added a german touch to our tree with the little straw ornaments that we got from a local grocery store.  Also, Will and I decided that hot chocolate is a must on Christmas Eve, hence our first Christmas tradition.  Since it was just the two of us we took a trip up to Nurnberg by train and checked out the Christmas market where they have tons of neat things to eat, drink, and buy.  We met a few new friends and walked around for a bit and had a cup of  Gluwein, which is one of my new favorites by the way.  It is a warm wine that the germans drink in a coffee mug around the holidays.  Can you say yummy?

Anyway we topped off the day by opening presents that night and getting up just in time Christmas morning to watch the parade on t.v.  This is when we decided our next tradition would be to have pancakes.  It was a Great day!  We hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas!

Trip to Amberg

Please forgive for posting so late. Will and I are finally beginning to get settled and I am hoping to post at least once a week. Since I have not done that so far let me fill you in. The week before last, Will and I completed what is called the German Head Start Course. It is a requirement for soldiers, but occasionally they have room for spouses. You guessed it! I was lucky enough to join our boy. In our class we learned helpful phrases and things we need to aware of with german culture. The class was four days, and on the last day they took us to a city called Amberg. It was about thirty minutes away from Vilseck. There we were able to put everything we learned into practice. We went to a gorgeous cathedral, ordered lunch in german, shopped in the city market, and went to the REAL, which is like our Wal-Mart. We had a good time! Here are some pictures from our little adventure.

This is a picture of the inside of the cathedral. There was gold EVERYWHERE.
This was from the outside of the Cathedral. I love the gorgeous fall colors!
Will and I posing outside of the cathedral.
The beautiful door into the cathedral.

I loved the wood work!
This is a picture of the door to another church in Amberg.
A glimpse of the people walking around the city center.
A neat view as we were walking through the city center.

Keeping in touch!

Hello family and friends! As most of you know, Will and I are starting a new adventure; we recently moved to Vilseck, Germany. I am starting this blog with the intent to find a better way to keep in touch with all our family and friends that we don't get to see on a regular basis. Now each of you will be able to keep up with what is happening in our life even if we don't get around to letters or phone calls as often as we would like. You can also post comments on our page, too! We miss and love each of you!
